Sunny was born in the hills of northern California, raised in the beauty of the Hawaiian islands and educated within the bustle of Los Angeles. As a child Sunny studied performing arts with a focus on western classical dance technique, theater, art and music; she signed with her first talent agency at the age of nineteen while silmultaneously pursuing the practice of yoga and attending classes in anthropology, art history, political science and photography at Santa Monica College.

Sunny's performance background includes work in film and television with artists such as Michael Bolton, Lenny Kravitz, Paula Abdul, LIonel Ritchie, Melissa Etheridge, Ice Cube, Ben Harper and many others. 

Sunny has spent time teaching, performing and exploring the world in such places as Belize, Costa Rica, Argentina, IndonesiaBrazil, Mexico, Jamaica, Thailand, Cambodia, Greece, Spain, Vietnam, France, Italy, Cuba, Peru and India.

yoga

Sunny was introduced to meditation and martial arts as a child, and began studying yoga at the age of nineteen. Sunny has spent decades exploing and practicing Hatha, Ashtanga and Anusara yoga, in addition to studying pranayama, yogic philosophy and Jyotisha. 

 

Sunny has had the priviledge of receiving instruction from Nancy Gilgoff, Jorgen Christiansen, Casey Palmer, Mark St. Pierre, Brian Kest and Nadia Toraman. In 2016 Sunny received her yoga certification under the intelligent gaze of Jennifer Lynn.

Sunny's education has also included the study of Baduanjin Eight Brocade qigong, somatic movement, Feldenkrais and massage therapy. 

As an instructor Sunny has facilitated yoga, meditation and mindful movement classes for groups and individuals; inspired by her love of the natural world, she encourages students to bring forth the best of whom they are.

Sunny's professional dance background includes over 40 years of training in classical, contemporary and cultural styles of dance including ballet, West African, Contemporary, Haitian, Afro-Caribbean, Congolese, Brazilian, Tahitian, Afro Cuban, and Lyrical Jazz.

Since 2000 Sunny has taught for various non-profit organizations in Hawaii and California, their aim being to enrich the lives of socio-economically disadvantaged youth through the arts. 

As well, Sunny has facilitated conscious and freestyle dance movement workshops for retreats centers in the Sacred Valley area of Peru.

In addition to teaching, Sunny has extensive experience as a stage performer and has worked on major commercial campaigns for Sony, Mercedes, Sprint, TDK, Honda, Pepsi, M&Ms, Nordstroms, NBC, CBS and Visa.

PHILANTHROPY

As a perfoming arist Sunny has helped raise funds and awareness for various causes. In Thailand she sang for the Phuket Jazz Blues Festival on behald of the victims of the 2004 Thailand tsunami. In Hawaii has choreographed and facilitated dance workshops in support of the East Maui Animal Refuge, Save Darfur and Doctors Without Borders.
 
In 2019 Sunny visited India where she volunteered in producing a short promotional film for Little Stars School and Shanti Niketan Girls' Orphanage in Varanasi, India.
